Ramadan is one of Islam’s five pillars. According to the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is the ninth month. This month, Muslims all over the world are fasting for 30 days in order to strengthen their relationship with Allah and change their character for the better. Muslims believe that fasting during Ramadan improves self-discipline, inner peace, and awareness of poor communities that often go hungry without choice.
Thus in this Ramadan, we have 10 good deeds to do, these are as follow:
1. Recite the Quran daily
Recite the Holy Quran every day. Some may find it difficult, while others may find it simple. You must read the Quran, even if it is only one line. Some people are concerned because they believe our tajweed is not perfect. We should also read a translation of the Quran because it can be difficult to incorporate Surahs into our daily lives if we don’t know what they mean.
2. Engage in Du’a and Remembrance of Allah
Spend the entire day remembering Allah. This is the month to strengthen your relationship with Allah. Find a quiet place where no one can bother you, and remember that Allah is enough for you. Also, don’t forget to pray Fajr and all other prayers on time.
3. Perform Sunnah prayers
Sunnah prayers are a gateway to receiving whatever your heart desires from Allah.
4. Prepare food for your loved ones
Connect with Allah on a daily basis, both individually and as a family. You should try to eat Iftar and Suhoor with your entire family in one place. At least once a week, you should prepare iftar for your family, as well as your neighbours and the poor.
5. Give Charity
We should give extra charity during the blessed month of Ramadan, in addition to the obligatory zakat. Charity does not only mean giving money; it can also mean helping your parents in the kitchen, donating your clothes, and purchasing medicines and food for those who cannot afford it. The joy and peace you will experience after helping others are incredible. Even a stranger’s smile is a form of charity.
6. Reconnect with Old Friends Over Iftar
Another reason many Muslims look forward to the blessed month of Ramadan is the opportunity to rekindle old friendships over iftar. You and your friends can also choose from a variety of options, ranging from a hearty meal at the mosque to various irresistible bazaar treats.
7. Volunteer
Volunteering is an excellent way to make a positive difference and assist those who are less fortunate than you. Spend a few hours volunteering at a homeless shelter or distributing food at a community food pantry.
8. Respect Others
This month, try to be courteous and considerate to everyone you meet and interact with. Treat others with the utmost respect and kindness, whether it’s a coworker in the elevator or a fellow commuter on the train. Take the time to smile at passers-by as you walk down the street, and be mindful of those around you.
9. Random Act of Kindness
Random acts of kindness can go a long way toward brightening someone’s day, and people of all ages can participate. If you see a stranger struggling with something, lend a helping hand. You can also assist those who are less fortunate than you.
10. Abstain from Bad Habits
It is also important to avoid bad habits, not only for your physical health but also for your spiritual health. Avoid gossiping, bad language, and arguing to improve your relationships with others and overall attitude.
