Portuguese Square is known as the heart of Malacca’s small Portuguese community. The descendants of previous Malaccan colonists make up the community. The square is simply a small section of Jalan Ujon Pasir lined with restaurants, food stalls, and pubs. On Saturday evenings, the local community puts on traditional dances to entertain tourists and celebrate their unique culture in style. Choose a spot, grab a beer, and settle in for a night of listening to pseudo-pop bands strut their stuff to the sound of the Malacca Strait in the distance.
